My Copy: 9781538718469 (image from bn.com) It took me a while longer than I thought to read this book, especially how thin it is compared to others I've picked up lately, but when I finally had a chance to sit and really read and absorb it, it went quick. A Warning doesn't really give you … Continue reading A Warning, by Anonymous (a Senior Trump Administration Official)
I didn't get too much done today--too much work outside the home and I was nodding off mid-day, so I napped through quite a bit of it. Bummed me out because I had plans, but sleep needs to happen, too. What little I did do happened in my garden, and as I let myself SLOWLY … Continue reading Learning new things in the garden a little at a time… & knowing you’re gonna go WAY past your initial investment if you don’t watch it.
I wasn't feeling very good today, just general tiredness from the storm the night before waking me up several times. I finished most of my notebook regarding plants I'm working with and any specs and instructions I can find on them, and then went to check on what I already had planted versus what was … Continue reading When “you get what you pay for” means you’ve lost not just money, but time as well.
I got to thinking about what would make me--in this day and age--get really scared out of my wits and insist on protecting myself in the harshest possible way. I finally figured out the scenarios that scare the willies out of me, but perhaps some won't be all that uncommon or unusual as we might … Continue reading Five scenarios where I might shoot (or stab) first & ask questions later.
Image from Gary Larson's The Far Side (I love that panel). Anyhoo, I've had an interesting time trying to get into re-reading the Bible, both versions I have, side by side so I get the gist and context. I genuinely feel like I need to give the Bible a fair shake, to study it for … Continue reading Random thoughts I’m having while reading the Book of Genesis…
First of all: This re-reading the Bible thing is going to take a LOOOONNNNG time. I'm not even halfway through Genesis and I've already got about 10 pages of notes and questions. Yes, I'm taking the Bible for what it is, reading it in order. All I can say is I'm remembering why I got … Continue reading Sunday, Boring Sunday: God, Guns, Family, Friends, & Paranoia… I’ve had enough.

I'm sure this 1994 text has made it into the bibliographies of plenty of books that have come since, whether criticizing the word of … Continue reading A Different Gospel: A bold & revealing look at the biblical & historical basis of the Word of Faith movement (updated ed), by D.R. I've been trying to write for three days now, and this is one thing that's come into and out of my mind the past week. Namely, how to achieve such an interesting idea, when you have a mind like mine. I've talked about my job and related issues several times over the past month, but … Continue reading Work-Life Balance for Dummies When You Have No Life (and I’m the dummy in this one…)
I'm sure there's some startled blinking going on at that question. I mean, who the hell wouldn't want somebody else to pay their debts off, really? You probably wouldn't be the first; I haven't found any articles about this very concern. Most of Google is focused on debt consolidation or asking parents if they think … Continue reading #061–How do you keep parents from trying to pay off your debts for you?
I noticed last week that one of my bosses told me "I trust you" when it came to the front-desk work that I'm still learning about. Being that I'm the senior-most employee working that section, (and that's a helluva shocker), it was a bit startling.... And that I don't recall hearing that phrase much, if ever.
