Blitz Q #182: Which part (of the cheating) was the “mistake”?

This is a question I'd love to ask when it comes to infidelity. How many times has the story come about, in movies, Reddit stories, anecdotes, etc.? Someone comes home, hears noises/music, follows it, finds their significant other in bed with another person. And then the cheater says something like: "Omg, omg, omg, I'm sorry, … Continue reading Blitz Q #182: Which part (of the cheating) was the “mistake”?

Edible Schoolyard: A universal idea, by Alice Waters

My Copy: 9780811862806 (image from amazon.com) I'd set this in my to-read stack quite a while ago, and it was a tough book to find the first time I went looking for it (I'd grabbed pretty much anything written by or about Alice Waters that week). But this is a pretty good book for pre-teens … Continue reading Edible Schoolyard: A universal idea, by Alice Waters

Pushing Myself to Clean Better

Once again, the angels of duty and responsibility have reared their heads and declared war on my demons of procrastination. Though in my defense, it wasn't entirely wasted time. I WAS doing necessary and relevant things outside while the weather was good. But damn, this place is a few dust bunnies and dirt clots away … Continue reading Pushing Myself to Clean Better

35 Years Ago Today, Titanic was found…

Not the famous bow shot coming out of the gloom that just makes you in awe, but rather the debris on the ocean floor. And one of the first images early that morning was of one of the boilers that spilled out from the ship (above). And the start of a shipwreck obsession that's lasted … Continue reading 35 Years Ago Today, Titanic was found…

American Gods (author’s preferred text), by Neil Gaiman

My Copy: 9780062080233 (image from goodreads.com) I've never read Neil Gaiman before, and I sure picked a doorstop as my first of the several on my shelves. But I'm keeping this one for sure. I know I liked it, but I'm not terribly sure why. I just know I'm willing to go along for the … Continue reading American Gods (author’s preferred text), by Neil Gaiman

2010: Odyssey Two, by Arthur C. Clarke

My copy: 9780345303066 Now, I already reviewed the book "2001: A Space Odyssey" last month, so if you've read the book yourself, I'll make sure to let you know some of the oddities and confusion that might stem from reading this book...especially if you haven't seen the film. I saw the film "2010" probably a dozen … Continue reading 2010: Odyssey Two, by Arthur C. Clarke

2001: A Space Odyssey, by Arthur C. Clarke

I do my damnedest never to include spoilers, though I will reference some bits of the film to make my point regarding the book. So if you've seen it like half the world has, then you've already spoiled some of it for yourself (ha ha). Seriously, I will minimize the spoiler exposure for the rest of you, but that's the curse of reviewing a pop culture staple--it can't be helped.
