One of those days… though maybe I’ll be lucky & it’ll just be a crap morning.

I should've known how today would start. I went to sleep with some bad thoughts swirling around my head because of some mail I got yesterday, and spent some time trying to stamp them down, put a positive on 'em, and get some much-needed sleep. Because of it, I tried to sleep in a bit, … Continue reading One of those days… though maybe I’ll be lucky & it’ll just be a crap morning.

Trapped between a rock & a hard place, & all the while I can see the path below plain as day…

My excitement over getting a new self-sustaining chapter in my life has started developing a bitter taste the past few weeks, and it's only getting worse. Don't get me wrong, I like the solar company I'm working with and they are doing what they can to help me out. It's the financing company we both … Continue reading Trapped between a rock & a hard place, & all the while I can see the path below plain as day…

#103 Blitz Q: Why don’t delivery drivers near me take the initiative & put packages under cover on a rainy day?

No doubt this is a slight rant. I don't know who was delivering my packages--some of it was sheet music, the rest accessories for my instruments. Different companies, and yet it all showed on the same day. What was so stupid is it sprinkled this morning when I took the dogs out, and I had … Continue reading #103 Blitz Q: Why don’t delivery drivers near me take the initiative & put packages under cover on a rainy day?

Making the Call No One Wants to Make, After Getting the Call No One Wants…

My week's been a blur. I haven't been on the internet in days, because less than three hours after I finished the post that ended up scheduled for Wednesday, I got a call from the police to get home ASAP. I'd just been writing about my dad and me in the past week, and how … Continue reading Making the Call No One Wants to Make, After Getting the Call No One Wants…

How NOT to tell someone about your worsening health.

I'm glad I waited until today to actually write this, because yesterday was a mix of very volatile emotions, as was the night before. I needed a bit of frantic energy, time, and self-destruction in the form of cheese and greasy meat before I felt ready. My dad's been in the hospital since the other … Continue reading How NOT to tell someone about your worsening health.

#026–How much power has Congress given away to the Executive Branch?

This is a question I've been wanting to ask for years, because the older I get, the more I'm scratching my head going "wait, isn't Congress supposed to do ______?" I find it a bit dismaying that the leaders that are supposed to most closely represent our wishes at the highest levels of government seem … Continue reading #026–How much power has Congress given away to the Executive Branch?

#019–What would it take to go from our current hodgepodge of public & private “healthcare” to universal healthcare in the U.S.?

Because healthcare is hard. More specifically, paying for the sonofabitch is what's so hard. We don't have the economy we used to have, and the insurance system we used to have, and the system in place that made it work because the jobs are gone that fed the beast well.

And I don't mean the damned Obamacare/ACA thing everybody wants to bitch about.

#002: Beyond the over-hyped election, what else can we do to make positive changes & policies in the U.S.?

My inner social studies teacher is kicking me right now, telling me "of course the vote is important, it's your civic duty, it's how our voices are heard, etc." I don't believe that as much as when I was a wide-eyed, newly-registered political innocent, certain that my scrap of paper in the box meant a lot to somebody out there.

Then again, that's about all I was taught regarding political participation.
