I’ve always heard of the George C. Scott version, but finally got a chance to watch it this morning (thumbs up so far), which got me remembering what I originally wanted to post last night.
I was down all day with headache, dizziness and a sore throat, so my brain was totally off kilter.
I can’t believe how many different versions of A Christmas Carol there are on film and TV, and certainly can’t remember them all. On the other hand, I CAN believe it, because it’s such a great story. But some have their particular faves and some don’t.
Frankly, my silly tradition has been to pull out The Muppet Christmas Carol and watch it a few times. One, I love the Muppets. Two, it’s the only “Christmas Carol” story I have on DVD!
But there are plenty of others. I unfortunately keep missing the Alastair Sim one from 1951 or around there, which I’ve seen pieces of but never the whole thing. And of course Patrick Stewart. I think he’s a fabulous Scrooge.
So, are there particular versions of A Christmas Carol you enjoy (or it’s adaptations)? And why those particular versions?
…Floor’s yours.
Have a great season.
The reading by Johnathan Winters (which NPR plays ever year) is my favorite.

Huh–I’ll have to look that up. Didn’t know NPR did that.
