I’m tired of the “God’s Punishment” crap we keep getting from preachers wanting their 15 minutes (more) in the media…

…and another author I recommend seems to be in the same boat.

Ah, how the media have bristled with evangelical preachers/ celebrities denouncing American society and insisting these storms and other natural phenomena are like God wagging it’s finger at us and telling people to stop being naughty and repent.

Yeah, because the couple in the header picture with their dog really look like they deserved it, as well as millions of others in Harvey (and more to come with Irma, Katia, Jose, wildfires, floods, droughts, etc).

I’ve read some of John Pavlovitz’ articles for most of the past year, and it’s amazing how he hits the nail on the head of what I couldn’t quite pinpoint. Wish I could meet him in person–he’s probably the only preacher I’ve read in the longest time that I’d want to hang out with and have some awesome discussions.

This one I can’t help but grin at every time I read it. It sums up my thinking so well (but he’s got more credibility, so I’ll borrow his wisdom and re-send it to the world):
